An infusion is a method of delivering biological substances, including vitamins, minerals, amino acids or fluids through a vein in order to improve health and function. Pharmaceutical medications may also be given as an add-on to certain infusions.
An injection is a method of delivering biological substances into a muscle where they can be absorbed by the body.
There is some evidence that indicates that intravenous and injected compounds are better absorbed by the body than when taken orally since the gut can only absorb 5-25% of any supplement depending on how healthy the gut is. Infusion provides 100% of the supplement to be immediately available for the body’s use.
Most infused or injected vitamins and minerals have not been tested in pregnancy but are probably safe since they are safe for oral use.
